Before we can think about making dinner, we must plan what we will eat throughout the week and do the shopping. Of course, these days, one can make a list online, press a few buttons, and pick up their groceries from the store at a designated time. So there’s that at least.

There are those who love to cook and those who, well …
It typically takes 30-45 minutes to prep and cook dinner. Remember Rachel Ray 30-Minute Meals? I even have a Rachel Rae 30-Minute Meals cookbook! Cookbooks tend to gather dust in this house because I’m usually the only person here who will eat most of what the recipes are for.
That pretty much sums it up! It’s a rare occasion when everyone eats at the table (at the same time). Eating the food only takes about 10-15 minutes.
The worst part … putting leftovers in containers and in the fridge, loading the dishwasher (whatever dishes are actually returned to the kitchen), and cleaning all surfaces where food was prepped and cooked. This takes another 15-ish minutes depending on how meticulous you are.
When all is said and done…
Those who prep, cook, eat, and clean up spend up to an hour or more on dinnertime. It’s easy for me to see why so many would rather have something delivered.
