Hurricanes and Typhoons

Hurricane Florence and Typhoon Mangkhut hit on the same day on opposite sides of the world. Florence received more worldwide attention despite the fact that Typhoon Mangkhut was the larger of the two with stronger winds. Why is that?

If anyone is curious, here are photos of Typhoon Mangkhut’s aftermath.

American weather reporters seemed to be more focused on sensationalizing Hurricane Florence. The Weather Channel defended the reporter by saying he was standing on wet grass and was exhausted. Sooooo….. take a few steps back and stand on the concrete for crying out loud! Like everyone else, I find that hard to believe.

Safety is important, and reporters try to set up in places where they have some sort of barrier and change locations when necessary so they aren’t being battered by full-force winds the entire time. See how this reporter explains it.

I don't believe humans truly have a purpose. Our goal is to survive until we expire. Period. Joy is pleasurable and worrying is not. Balance in life is crucial; but if the scales must tip, may they tip on the side of joy. I’m just another human trying to survive. I blog because I can and because I enjoy it, not because it serves any purpose.
