Dual Purpose Room – Office/Guest Room

To rearrange or not to rearrange…

That is the question. I should listen to my gut instinct. This room is used primarily as my office. That is its main function. I measured the room and all of the furniture in it and drew a plan on graph paper. I cut out each piece of furniture to scale, which I had also drawn on graph paper. I came up with an arrangement that would look very nice … IF this room were primarily a guest room or even a bedroom.

Today’s decision: not to rearrange. I like my desk set up next to the window and under a normal ceiling – not under an I-Beam and duct work, and especially not under that air vent again. Been there, done that! It’s cold enough in here even with the vent closed off as much as possible. I don’t want that cold air blowing straight down on top of my head. I quite enjoy the current arrangement, which is how it has been for (I think) about four years now. That’s like a record for me!

Instead, I’m going to focus on making this room look as good as it did in this picture. I hate mail! Everything should be paperless so I don’t have to deal with the clutter and the shredding and the trash.

I don't believe humans truly have a purpose. Our goal is to survive until we expire. Period. Joy is pleasurable and worrying is not. Balance in life is crucial; but if the scales must tip, may they tip on the side of joy. I’m just another human trying to survive. I blog because I can and because I enjoy it, not because it serves any purpose.
