The Voice | December 7, 2015

I need to put these videos here so I will never lose them. Blake’s little country girl is great and will probably go far, but the two that blew me away last night were Madi Davis and Jordan Smith!

First of all, Madi. O … M … G !!! Sixteen. Years. Old. What the heck?! I love what she did with Frankie Valli’s Big Girls Don’t Cry. I can hear exactly the type of album she would make, and I would buy it!

Then we have the show closer, Jordan. I mean … wow! Wow, wow, WOW! That was an amazing production with the whole choir backing him on Queen’s spectacular classic, Somebody to Love. His voice is undeniably fabulous and just about flawless. I just can’t put my finger on exactly what type of album he would record.

I have to give honorable mention to Emily Ann Roberts. Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5 is right in her wheel house, but what gave me goosies was when she sang Patsy Cline’s She’s Got You. Emily is a metzo soprano and when she first started the song, I was skeptical because Patsy was an amazing alto. Emily’s voice is so pure that I was drawn in pretty quick, though!

I see Emily in the final four for sure. I’m not sure who that fourth will be yet – Jeffrey Austin or Shelby Brown.

UPDATE:

Barrett Baber? Really??? Final four after the 12/8 results show:

  • Emily Ann Roberts
  • Barrett Baber <– should have been Madi!
  • Jordan Smith
  • Jeffrey Austin
