Halloween is over. November is here. People everywhere will start complaining about Christmas merchandise in stores and about Christmas music beginning to play. They’ll complain about people saying “Happy Holidays” instead of “Merry Christmas”. It happens every year. They’ll complain about the time change and the early darkness in the evenings. They’ll even complain about it getting cold. (At least it didn’t snow before Halloween in the Denver area this year.)

Why can’t people just let it go and enjoy each day as it comes? Why are so many people quick to complain and to take offense to things? I think it might be because they get attention from it. They feel a certain commiseration and take comfort in that.

Misery loves company, they say. Pity, I say. There are so many things we can agree on that are positive. Instead of groaning, why can’t we praise and express gratitude?

Think about it.

I don't believe humans truly have a purpose. Our goal is to survive until we expire. Period. Joy is pleasurable and worrying is not. Balance in life is crucial; but if the scales must tip, may they tip on the side of joy. I’m just another human trying to survive. I blog because I can and because I enjoy it, not because it serves any purpose.
