Basement – Part 1

We only have use of about 1/3 of our basement. The other 2/3 are crawl space and utility/laundry space. So now 1/6 of our basement is my office and craft space (The Mothership). I’ve already rearranged it since that post to open it up more. The other 1/6 is open for collecting whatever as many basements do unless they are completely finished and kept up by people who believe houses should be perfectly neat in every way. If that works for them, great! I don’t subscribe to that way of thinking. 🙂

So… we, because it’s our nature to take in stray humans, 😀 will again have a house guest and her trusty canine sidekick for a while beginning in December after her college semester ends. For reasons I don’t want to take the time to go into long details about, Kennah (our son’s girlfriend) will be moving back up here from New Mexico while Jason begins his search for another job. That won’t be until he’s completed a full year at least, which wouldn’t be until a new semester starts. So to avoid interrupting college classes, she’s going to move up here to begin her second semester. Who knows what the future holds beyond that, but they’re making it work the best they can. Added bonus: Jason will fly up on his days off more often!

I initially thought of using that open space because it has a TV and plenty of space for the dog kennel as well. Then I thought about moving shelves out of the Mothership out into that space and setting something up in my office. Then I thought of the times I like to work on personal stuff and photos during odd hours, so I’m back to plan A. A new thought just hit me, too. She loves camping. We have tents. 😯 What if I set up a tent in that open space?! How quirky cool would that be???

This is what I have to tackle (don’t judge!):
