I never thought I would see a PG-13 high school drama, but I did tonight. All I can say is “WOW!” You know how some parents are so proud, they only think something is worth seeing if their own kid is in it? So not the case here. I’ve said it before … there are some amazingly talented actors at Eaglecrest. They certainly did not disappoint this time! They took something beyond their years, something pretty heavy, and worked it.
The entire play takes place in a one-room apartment, so the audience was seated on stage on all four sides of the set. It was such an intimate setting, which aided in the entire dramatic effect. This is how it looked from my seat…
There were floor lights all around it, and when they went off, you could see through the netting just fine. This was a great set design idea to really highlight that they were in such a small space. Photography during the play was not allowed, but here’s a shot from farther back during intermission:
If you don’t know the play, you can read all about it here. I cried. Okay, so that’s not really that much of a shocker. But seriously, it was that good. Titanic was my favorite, and will always be way up there, but I think this may have surpassed Titanic on another scale.
